3:30am... Backpacking with my son in AF canyon. The tent is positioned next to a fast flowing River that provides a beautiful, natural white noise that generally puts be to sleep.
As I lay here however, I can’t help but think of the saying, “You can never step into the same river twice.”
Every moment, the river is reborn, renewed, and replenished with new waters. Moment by moment the water gives way to newness without hesitation or fear. Our lives are a river; a constant flow of moments flowing through time and space. Like the River we can never step into the same moment of experience twice. Once it passes it is gone. To find contentment, peace, joy, and love of life, we can take take lessons from the natural flow of the river, and allow every moment to pass by freely, without holding, judging, or manipulating the moment, only acknowledging it and expressing gratitude. Every experience is new, every thought, every action, every sensation... has never taken place before nor will it ever again.
To follow the flow of life is to follow the flow of spirit, for all things, all moments, and all experiences are spiritual.
To experience this spiritual flow, STOP; and, like listening to the flow of a river, learn to listen to the flow of life. you’ll be amazed at what you might find.
